Hemmed is made by Scaile Studios LLC ("Scaile Studios", "we"). This page explains what the Hemmed app and hemmed.app collect, why, and who else handles it. The short version: Hemmed has no analytics or ads, and we only receive what we need to sell you a license and keep it working.

The Hemmed app

Hemmed needs Accessibility access to move other apps' menu bar icons. macOS asks for it the first time you open the app, and Hemmed doesn't use that access for anything else.

Your icon layout, settings and trial start date stay on your Mac. The trial date and your license key are kept in your login Keychain. Hemmed does not include analytics, crash reporting or advertising code.

License activation and daily checks

When you enter a license key, and about once a day while Hemmed is running, the app contacts hemmed.app to confirm the key. Each request contains:

Hemmed does not read your Mac's serial number or any hardware identifier. We use this information to keep each key within its limit of 3 Macs, to show you which Macs use your key when you reach that limit, and to stop keys that were refunded. Choosing Deactivate This Mac in Settings removes that Mac from your key.

During the free trial, Hemmed makes no license requests.

Purchases

Hemmed is sold through Paddle, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment details, billing information and email address at checkout and handles them under the Paddle privacy policy. We never see your card details.

After a purchase, Paddle sends us your email address, your Paddle customer ID and the transaction ID. We store these with your license key so we can email the key to you, resend it if you lose it, and handle refunds.

Emails

Your license key is emailed to you through an email delivery provider, which receives your address and the message for that purpose only. We don't send marketing email to buyers.

This website

hemmed.app does not set cookies and does not load analytics or tracking scripts. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

The Buy button opens Paddle's checkout, which may use its own cookies to complete the purchase and prevent fraud.

How long we keep data

We keep license records (your email address, Paddle IDs, key and activated Macs) for as long as your license exists, so your key keeps working and can be resent. A Mac's record is removed when you deactivate it. Paddle keeps transaction records as required by tax and accounting rules.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Deleting your license record also stops the key from working. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law. Email [email protected] and we'll reply.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
